Build and publish a website with a database in one lesson
Every student gets a Git repo, a MySQL database and a live URL. They code in the browser, nothing to install.
Official EU Code Week activity · for ages 14+ · runs until 25 October
How it works
From sign-up to a class full of live websites, without touching a single school computer.
Sign up free
Create your teacher account in a minute.
Create a session
Pick the framework templates your students may use, from plain PHP to Laravel, Django, Spring Boot or Next.js.
Share the link and codes
Each student logs in with a 6-digit access code and starts coding in the browser's Web IDE, or clones with Git.
The lesson, in 45 minutes
At the end of the lesson, every student has a live website that reads from and writes to its own database, at its own URL.
-
0–5 min
Log in and create a repo
Students log in with their access code and create a repository from the Vanilla PHP template.
-
5–15 min
Make the page their own
In the Web IDE they edit the starter page: their name, a title, some style. Every commit deploys to their live URL.
-
15–35 min
Add a database table
They create a small table in phpMyAdmin, for example "favourite games", and show its rows on the page with PHP.
-
35–45 min
Share and connect
They share their live URL with a classmate and add a form so visitors can add entries to the table.
Who it is for
Secondary and vocational IT classes, ages 14+. It works as a first lesson in web development, and for students who already know some HTML.
Guides in 14 languages
Step-by-step guides for each framework and the student dashboard are available in 14 European languages, including Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, German, French, Spanish and Polish.
13 framework templates
Start simple with Vanilla PHP, or go further with Laravel, Express.js, Django, FastAPI, Spring Boot, React, Vue.js, Svelte, Angular or Next.js.
